Training to Become A Riding The Rapids Facilitator

Ride The Rapids (Logo)

Riding the Rapids facilitators come from a range of backgrounds and services: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Early Help, Education, Learning Disability Teams, and the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sectors. Facilitators should be in organisations which are accountable to outside bodies, and/or have professional registration. Facilitators should have organisational support to provide a Riding the Rapids course in the 12 months following their training event.

Two trained facilitators are required to run a Riding the Rapids group for parents and carers. In the UK, Riding the Rapids is designed to be free to parents and carers at the point of delivery.

There are options for training in each of the 3 Programmes. As an example, there is a 3 day training event to learn how to deliver both the Primary and Teenage programmes. The event is face to face and interactive, training practitioners in how to apply the values and content of Riding the Rapids. There are regular training events scheduled for practitioners from a range of services. Training events for whole teams/ geographical areas can also be requested. The 3 day training costs £700 plus VAT per person, which covers the training event, all materials, facilitator licence and access to the Virtual Hub for ongoing support.

If you are interested in training in the pre-school Riding The Rapids, please contact us at the email below to discuss further. We are also in the process of developing a one day ‘top up’ training course for those who are already trained in the Primary and Teenage programmes and wish to also deliver the pre-school groups.

“Really engaging and likeable trainers, will benefit the parents and young people a great deal and hopefully will make a positive impact! Training was really interesting and engaging”

“This is much needed in our service. Parents can feel lost. This will provide them with some realistic skills and tools they can put into practice straight away.”

“Riding the Rapids is already established within my team and feedback has been really positive that it has supported families to understand their child. Really looking forward to helping the rest of the team in facilitating.”

“Riding the Rapids will help parents identify and understand what their child’s behaviour is telling them, which will help their child feel heard. Strategies will help parents pre-empt and reduce behaviour challenges and improve self esteem and lived experiences for child, parent and family.”
